Zan, morphed, was streaking along the path to the Lab at hyperspeed, a sling bag clenched in his pointed teeth. He smoothly morphed behind some bushes, tugging on his pants and trying to look civilized as he walked up to the lab.
He knocked on the door, hard. The resounding echo could have been loud enough to wake up the whole neighborhood at this early hour. Oops.
As Zan awaited an answer to his accidently too-loud knock, he realised he had left his shirt in his bag, which was know slung lazily over his shoulder. 'Oh well. Too late.' he though to himself, a grin playing around the corners of his mouth as he crossed his arms.

A young woman was whom answered the door, her ebony hair pulled nearly back into a ponytail which allowed her bangs to hang down to frame her face and accent her bright, icy blue eyes. Her eyes trailed up to Zan's ear and then tail but she didn't seem to care, simply giving him a warm smile. "Hello, and what honor do I have in welcoming another Pokemorph into the region," she asked cheerfully, her eyes twinkling.
She was, quite obviously, the professor of this lab, or at least, one of the assistants. Her white lab coat showed that quite clearly, after all, not just anyone ran around in a while lab coat. A white trench coat maybe, but lab coats seemed to be reserved for those that actually worked in a lab.
Her outfit that she wore beneath it, however, was rather odd, in the effect that it was actually more casual. Most professors seemed to at least wear formal slacks, but this woman instead wore a pair of jeans that had a rip appearing in her left knee, and a pale green t-shirt hung off her shoulders. She didn't even exactly have nice shoes, rather, they were white sneakers that were worn with age.
"My name is Professor Morwen Aspen," she introduced herself with a slightly dip at her waist. "How may I help you?"

"I'm here for a Pokemon." Zan stated simply, flipping a lock of hair away from his face and giving the Professor his most winning crooked half-smile.
"I was hoping you had something fast. You know, to keep up with me." he explained, turning up the pleading power in his molten butterscotch-colored eyes.
Zan wasn't really trying to flatter anybody, just get away from humans as soon as possible. He yearned to be surrounded by Pokemon, who seemed to understand his dual-specied-ness better than humans did.

"Something fast?" the professor stepped aside to allow passage for Zan into her lab, tapping her chin absently in thought. "Kiana, what would you say measures up to that quality?" she turned to what seemed to be empty air, though a moment later a Froslass slowly materialized.
The ghost and ice Pokemon nodded smoothly, and turned her head toward the opening between two bookcases that lead to the back room. Two Pokeballs quickly hovered out and then burst open, releasing their contents.
The first one was a small orange lion cub that was growling and playing happily with the first thing it saw, which happened to be a fly that was buzzing around the room. It had a yellow streak down its side, and its tail was tipped with flames.
The second Pokemon hopped along the tiled floor and then pecked at it, fluttering its brown and tan wings and blinking its beady eyes as it searched for food. It seemed to be straying away from the fire lion, after all, cats did like to try and catch birds.
Professor Aspen nodded slightly. "I believe these two are the fastest we have, but if you wish I can bring the others out. The lion cub is called Firecub, and grows to be a skillful hunter, and I'm sure you must know the tiny bird Pokemon Pidgey, as they are quite common around here and in other regions."

Zan stepped quietly into the lab, watching the two Pokemon warily. If the bird was common, he could find it elsewhere, and something about the innocence of the FireCub's eyes intrigued him. They were almost the same color of Zan's own eyes, before he was Changed. There was just one last test Zan wanted to do...
"May I?" he asked politely, nudging the door open lightly with a paw-like foot, then gliding outside and drawing a line in the dirt. He trotted 5o feet away or so, then drew another line and came back to the line towards the lab.
Zan had obviously just set up a race. As if to prove the point, he morphed and stood poised with his surprisingly dainty paws on the Start line, tying his shorts around his neck so they were out of the way as he tried to get a good grip on the dusty ground to help with his kickoff.
"Bring them out here. We'll race to one side, then I'll morph and we'll come back, me in human form. I'm usually faster as a human, but it depends on the ground." Zan called to the Professor in plain English, trying with half-success to morph just his vocal chords. His suggestion was slightly mottled by Raichu-like squeals, but hopefully the Professor would understand.

Professor Aspen nodded smoothly and turned to the Firecub and Pidgey, smiling as she gave a chorus of soft whistles, all of which were differating in both tone and pitch. Both Pokemon grinned and nodded eagerly, shooting outside and standing beside Zan. They both gave him rather curious looks, wondering when in the world a Raichu had gotten here.
"Kiana, you might as well bring the others out," said Morwen, turning again to her Froslass. However, she was looking out of the corner of her eye at a figure that was coming up the street though for some reason keeping to the shadows. She frowned slightly but didn't seem to think much more of it.
As you wish, m'lady... the Froslass nodded simply, speaking through telepathy rather than the musical trills and calls that were her species' form of communication. She turned her head toward the opening between the book cases and five more Pokeballs hovered out, all opening in unison.
The first one resembled an orange lizard that stood on two legs, though its head seemed to resemble that of a dragon's in some ways, the small fangs that were poking out of its upper jaw probably helping the matter. Its long, slender tail was tipped by a flickering ember, identifying it as the fire type Charmander.
The second looked like a rather large turtle that also stood on its hind legs. It was a pale blue in color, with a beige shell along its belly and then a dark brown half that was shaped like a smooth dome on its back. Its tail was slightly curled, and it had a rather idiotic grin on its face as it rubbed the back of its head. A water type, Squirtle.
The third looked a bit more like a bluish-green dinosaur with darker, angular spots on its forehead and belly. Its red eyes were bright and eager and it seemed to have a flower bulb growing out of its back. It was the grass type, Bulbasaur.
The remaining two seemed to be Lanorae Pokemon, as they were never before seen in the other regions. The first one resembled a type of serpent with fins that it used to support its upper body on the ground. Its head was finned, and had a small greening dash down its snout. Crowning the tip of its tail were large, semi-transparent flukes, most liekly used for swimming. This Pokemon was the water type, Seaward.
And the final Pokemon was a little beige and green, raptor-like dinosaur. It had small front claws but its hind legs looked powerful and muscle-packed. It seemed like blades of grass were growing from its back and it had two growths on its head that looked like horns. The grass type Iglora.
Professor Aspen turned back to Zan. "Would you like to have these Pokemon as well join in? It is quite possible I could have made a slight error in quickness, I'm afraid my mind isn't quite with me today..."

Zan now did the funny morphing thing with his vocal chords again, but this time allowing himself to morph back a bit more, a tuft of bronze-ish hair sticking out from the top of his head, which was still in Raichu form like the rest of his body. "Sure, why not. But the little lion seems to have spark..." he said, eying his obvious favorite as he spoke. "Let's get a move on, then. You go ahead and say Go then, Morwen." he said casually, keeping his vocal chords morphed to the little tuft of hair hanging in his Raichu face like annoying emo bangs.
He stood poised on the start line, waiting for the professor to say when to go. He assumed he could beat the rest of the little Pokemon, but he could be wrong. Whichever kept up the best would most likely be his choice.

"Of course," Professor Aspen said simply, giving a little nod of her head. She raised her right hand, knowing this was the sign that the Pokemon would recognize the best, and then brought it down through the air with a shout of "Go!"
The Pidgey seemed to be too preoccupied with pecking at the dirt road, looking for grubs, to notice that there was a race it was supposed to be participating in, so it was already left in the dust. It was quite fine with this though. After all, it was rather hungry...
The Seaward too was left in the dust almost immediately. Sure, it was a fine swimmer, but on land it could do little more than drag itself across the ground. It wasn't going to get anywhere anytime soon, that was for sure.
That left it to the other five Pokemon. The Firecub and Iglora were quite obviously the best two of the group, as both ran with obvious ease across the ground. The Iglora seemed to have a slight jump in its step but the Firecub ran smoothly.
The Squirtle ended up tripping and fell, getting stuck on its back and trying to scramble back up to its feet. Unfortunately, seeing its shell was round, it wasn't doing very good. The Charmander ended up tripping over its fellow Kanto Pokemon, leaving only the Bulbasaur, Firecub, and Iglora in the race.
The shadowy figure watched with rather mild interest, bright blue eyes seeming to glow in the darkness of the shadow it was hiding in. It seemed reluctant to show itself in the light, at least, reluctant to show more than a twitch of a wirey tail.

Zan let the other Pokemon have a split-second half start, then pounded off after the three that didn't get left behind at the Start.
He eyed the trio, which he was now drawing even with. The Two grass types seemed more like Special Attack-type Pokemon, while the Firecub was more Physical. Besides, he liked the little lions speed and gait.
Before he knew it, Zan had reached the halfway point/finish of the first point. He easily slipped his shorts from around his neck and sat upon them as he morphed, his paws morphing into muscled legs, the rest of his body following. The fit, bare-chested youth stood ready to take of towards where the race started from at any minute, but waited for the other Pokemon to catch up first. As soon as they crossed the line to turn around, he would follow.

The Firecub reached the end of the first half of the course and then suddenly shifted its weight. It caused its body to slide and turned as it did so, making it so it didn't loose any speed while changing direction, and then it bounded back towards the start.
The Iglora too didn't seem to have any problem with turning, it merely pressed off with its feet as it reached the end of the first half, causing itself to half hop after the Firecub before it regained its bouncing gait. It wasn't going to be left behind so easily.
The Bulbasaur, on the other hand, seemed to have issues with turning while running full speed like it was and ended up tripping over its own feet. It rolled and then landed face first in the dust. It had no chance whatsoever of catching up now.

Zan bounded off as soon as the FireCub started galloping back to the start. It had been a long time since he'd actually had /fun/ running. He barely overtook the FireCub as he neared the finish line, then pulled a bit further ahead.
Seeing the line he had drawn to mark the end of the race, Zan gave a mighty leap, morphed in midair, and landed as a Raichu on the other side of the line. "Pretty snazzy, eh?" he smirked, the tuft of bronze hair atop his Raichu head announcing that he could still speak in a human voice.
He flipped back the emo bangs hat came as a side effect of changing to an English-speaking Raichu and turned to meet whichever starter raced past the finish line after him first...

The Firecub shot the Iglora a rather competative glance, its paws still gliding swiftly across the ground. It was quite obviously built for running, probably because its evolved forms were powerful hunters in the wild. It actually bared its small teeth slightly and put on another burst of speed.
The Iglora seemed to be keeping up quite easily, its jumpy footfalls carrying it a lot further than you would really think if you watched its steps in slow motion. However, the Firecub seemed to have pulled ahead. It let loose a rather startled trill and made its footfalls faster, lowering its body slightly to create less air resistance.
The Firecub skidded across the finish line first with a happy little yowl. It held its head proudly with its chest puffed out, looking very proud of itself. It Iglora panted after it just a few seconds afterward, looking a bit worn out.
"Well, was that enough to make your choice?" Professor Aspen glanced at Zan. "Or do you want to race them again just to be sure?"
The Iglora opened its mouth in protest and fell over backwards, looking quite exhausted. It wasn't going to race again, that was for sure! The figure in the shadows giggled slightly but then covered its mouth. That probably gave its position away, actually most definately seeing Morwen even glanced over in its direction.

"Well, I think this little guy's proved himself, definitely." Zan spoke in English (though still a Raichu) to the Professor before turning to the extremely proud FireCub.
<Wanna Travel with me, then?> he asked it, sticking out an an abnormally slender paw for the cub to... er... shake, though how it would manage that, Zan had no idea.
Motioning towards Sahara the strange shape in the shadows with his other paw, he added to the Professor, "But I think /she/ might want the Lizard." He was, of course, referring to the Iglora their visitor had been laughing at.

"Hmm?" Professor Aspen glanced at the shadow and narrowed her eyes slightly. "Is that you Sahara? You can come on out dear, I'm pretty sure no one here is going to bite..." Professor Aspen turned back to Zan. "And no, actually, she doesn't believe in Pokemon training..."
The Firecub tilted its head slightly with a small "Mreow..." and then nodded, lifting one of its paws off the ground and placing it in Zan's paw, which was rather its version of a handshake. It was a feline after all, being so it couldn't exactly grab the Raichu's paw and shake it itself.
A slim girl stepped out of the shadows, a black shirt hanging off her slender shoulders and a pair of jeans off her waist. She wore no shoes, rather her feet were paw-like, like a Raichu's, and her entire body was covered with a smooth coat of tawny fur. A long, whip-like tail waved absently behind her, and a pair of Raichu ears stuck up out of her blonde hair. A pair of sunglasses covered her eyes, sheilding them from view. "How did you know it was me, Morwen?" she asked quietly.
The professor laughed slightly. "You need to learn to watch that tail of yours, it gives you away if someone sees it and you're trying to hide."

Zan nodded to the Firecub, trotted over to his discarded shorts, and morphed back into human form. Standing up from the crouched position he always morphed in, he glanced quickly at Sahara and laughed. "Well, even if she doesn't believe in it... I think this FireCub would... well, maybe not be better off, but it would have a lot more fun if it came with me- or us..." Zan explained, gazing at the Professor to let her know he wanted the little Fire Lion-thing, then flicking his gaze back to Sahara as if asking her permission to travel together.

"Thanks, but... I've got my own." Zan explained with a half-apologetic smile as he bent down and transfered the items from the backpack he had just been given to his own deep orange sling bag, which matched the color of his skin almost exactly. He paused as he was about to place the last item in his bag, cradling the FireCub's ball in his large palm before releasing the little Lion to stand beside him. Though Zan did believe in Training Pokemon, he thought the 'Ball was rather unnecessary.
He straightened and gave the now-empty backpack back to Professor Aspen before turning to Sahara. "Shall we go, then?" Zan asked, beckoning for the other morph to follow him as he set off along the path, FireCub at his heels. He paused for a minute, causing his Pokemon to collide with his heels, to yell a quick "Thanks!" back at the Professor.
((Reply, then I'll make the Route One thread, Kay?))

"You're very welcome!" Professor Aspen called, waving happily, though her attention was immediately distracted by a sudden darkness that was spreading throughout the sky, like a fog or sorts that was beginning to block out the sun. She bit her bottom lip and turned without another word, retreating into the lab. 'It's repeating too soon...'
Kiana and Ria followed hurridly, neither of them wanting to remain in the darkening environment. Sahara glanced at Zan, flicking her tail. "We should get on to the route as soon as possible..." she said simply, darting off.
Murkrow were now flocking in the sky, cawing loudly. A few seemed to be scuffling over random issues, but most were most definately an ominous sight. They were indeed, the hearlds of darkness.
OoC: Alrighty, just put 'Reserved for Ayra' or something in case Rafa sees it before I do^^ I have to control Sahara after all.
