It had been exactly one week and three days since a boat from Canalave had arrived in the peaceful town of Seaside Village, leaving one thirteen year old girl stranded. Elissa Ivory knew this for a fact, because she had been counting the days until she was brave enough to approach the laboratory.
'What if she sees me and thinks I'd be a horrid trainer?' she thought to herself as she dawdled towards the modern building, out-of-place amongst the quaint houses that dotted the village. 'What if - Mew forbid - she sends me back?'
Panic clearly visible in her eyes - more blue than grey, reflecting the sea - Elissa quickened her pace, the battered old bag she carried with her rhythmically hitting her side. She touched the red cloth, feeling for the comforting shape of her favourite book, one of the few things she had stuffed into her bag before being practically pushed onto the boat by her mother. She could still see the hate in Laura Ivory's eyes as she watched her daughter sailing away.
The very thought made the girl shudder, while in turn caused her to stumble, only just managing to regain her balance as she approached the door to the laboratory. Before she knocked, however, she hurriedly pulled out her book, in a vain attempt to calm herself down - the short stories, mythical tales of old, always made her feel better.
"...and when the creature was tossed to the sea by its hateful trainer, the sea guardian took pity on it, and gave it life once more, and power over beings like it, and it became a creature of myth..."
Still mumbling the familiar story to herself, she put the book away, and knocked hesitantly on the door.

A woman with long, turqoise hair pulled back into a ponytail was the one that opened the door, rather than the ebony haired professor that was said to occupy this particular lab. She had eyes the same shade as her hair, and a pair of half-moon glasses were high on her nose. What really gave her away that she did indeed work here was a white lab coat that hung off her slim shoulders.
"Oh, hello there, please, do come in, quickly..." she opened the door wider to allow the girl inside. "No need to stay out there..." she glanced upward at a flock of Murkrow that were swarming in the darkening sky. "Oh dear..."
"Chatot! Embrace! Chatot! Twilight!" a Chatot was squawking loudly from atop a bookshelf, looking rather upset and frazzled as he fluffed up his feathers and flapped his wings.
"Song! Shut it!" Lillian said quickly before turning back to the new arrival. "My name's Lillian, how may I help you? The Professor's currently in the back, meeting with Rui of the Pokemon League."
OoC: Sorry about the shortness, my muse is dead ;.;

((Looks fine from where I'm sitting ^^))
The girl glanced fearfully upwards at the flock of Murkrow, stories of the bad fortune they brought coming to mind. Shaking her head - they were just stories, she reminded herself - she stepped inside, looking first at the squawking bird, then at Lillian.
"H-hello..." she began nervously, silently chiding herself for stuttering. "I, um, my name is Elissa Ivory...I'm here to get my first Pokemon...um, I'm in the right place, aren't I?" she asked, seeming positively terrified at the thought - what if, after all that, she had come to the wrong place, the wrong town, even? "Or, um, if the Professor is busy, I can come back later..."
Unable to face the assistant, Elissa stared instead at the floor, a pink tinge spreading over her face. If the Professor was busy, she would have to come back later to get her first Pokemon. In fact, she didn't even know what Pokemon were given out as starters in the Lanorae region. Would they have Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, like in her home region of Sinnoh? Would she even like any of the starters, if she got the chance to see them?

Lillian blinked, shutting the door quickly behind the girl as she walked in. "No, it's alright..." she smiled cheerfully. "I may not be a professor yet but I am a professor's aide, so therefore I am fully qualified to give you a starter if that it what you're after." She gave Elissa a thumbs up. "After all, what else are we aides good for?"
Chatot! Target practice! Chatot!" Lillian's Chatot squawked loudly, imitating the human voice again to make a rather funny, though rude comment. Indeed, he earned a rather fierce glare from the turqoise-haired woman and stopped rather abruptly, though he still sent his trainer a rather dirty look.
"Anyways, aside from what Song so nicely made known, all we're good for is handing out starters when the professor's busy really!" she laughed merrily and clasped her hands behind her back. "Anyway, do you have any idea of what sort of starters we have here? Or would you like me to release them all so you can get a good look at them?" Lillian asked, peering at Elissa curiously and unclasping her hands to push her half-moon glasses back up her nose.
A few loud caws could be heard from outside, along with a great howling of what seemed like wind. It was almost as if a storm was brewing, though it wa rather doubtful that a swarm of Murkrow would herald a storm. Usually Castform were the ones that predicted the weather, no, the Murkrow were probably flocking for other reasons, reasons which were either currently unknown or were being discussed between the professor and Elite member right now.
"Terrible how dark it is isn't it?" Lillian commented, though she seemed to be mainly speaking to herself as she glanced out a window. "Hmph... and to think this is happening four hundred and fift years early... wonder why..."

Elissa shivered nervously at the sound of the cawing Murkrow, though she secretly hoped a storm would come. If there was one thing Elissa Ivory liked, it was a good storm...though, she couldn't stay inside and read today, so perhaps rain was not the best thing for her right now.
"I'm afraid I know nothing of your region's starter Pokémon...would you please show them to me?" she asked in a small voice, still looking at the floor of the laboratory. "If you wouldn't mind, that is..."
((Super-short post, but I'm really pressed for time. x.x))

Lillian nodded briskly and walked over to a shelf, grabbing seven Pokeballs in her arms and then flinging them into the air. "Here you are then! Here are the seven we have available!"
The first that appeared was a small bird. It ruffled its feathers rather indignantly and gave a loud chirp before going about and pecking at the ground, as if it expected to find some sort of grub. A Pidgey.
The second was a bluish-green dinosaur-like Pokemon with darker spots and bright red eyes. A green bulb grew from its back, and it gazed around with a somewhat calm expression on its face. A Bulbasaur.
The third was an orange, lizard-like Pokemon with a beige belly and bright, emerald green eyes. Its tail was tipped with a blazing ember, showing that it was a fire type. It growled cheerfully, wagging its tail. A Charmander.
The fourth was a blue, turtle-like Pokemon with a brown shell on its back. It stood on its hind legs and had a curled tail held up behind it. Its brown eyes twinkled quite happily as it looked around, grinning. A Squirtle.
The fifth Pokemon looked like another little dinosaur, only this one stood on its hind legs instead of all fours and had what looked like horns. Its snout was beak-like and its eyes red, while its body was a tannish color with green markings. Its hind legs looked powerful, perfect for jumping. An Iglora.
The sixth Pokemon looked like a young lion, and it was rolling on the ground playfully. Its body was mostly orange, except for beige streaks along its sides and its beige-dipped paws. Its eyes were emerald like the Charmander's, and its tail was alight with a pleasently flickering flame. A Firecub.
The seventh and final Pokemon looked somewhat like an eel or a sea serpent. It had semi-translucent tail fins and was supporting itself on its front flippers. Its eyes were pupiless and a light blue in color, and white fins crowned its head. A Seaward.
"So, see one that you like?" Lillian asked, doing her best to ignore her Chatot, who was still squawking loudly and in a rather annoying fashion.
OoC: It's alright^^ I understand.

The shy girl looked carefully at all the options, silently ruling out ones she didn't really want - even if there was a good reason that she wouldn't choose a Pokemon, there was no reason to be rude about it and say her reasons out loud.
'Let's see...I don't really like Pidgey, or Bulbasaur - they're so...strange. And I really don't want a Fire-type, so that rules out Charmander, and the other one too - what was its name again? Firecub, I think...anyway, so that leaves the two Water-types and one Grass-type. I think the Grass-type is a bit...oh, I don't know.'
Elissa looked helplessly at the seven pokemon lined up, gaze lingering on the Squirtle and the Seaward. Of course, it would be easy to pick the Squirtle - they were easy to raise, and Blastoise were powerful...
Oh, but the Seaward was so pretty.
"I...I think I'll take that one... she said, pointed at the serpentine Water-type. "Um, I think it was called...a Seaward...?"

Lillian smiled cheerfully. "Yep! That would be a Seaward, and they are quite loyal really, and perfect for crossing large bodies of water once they grow a bit more and you teach them the Surf Hidden Machine," her grinned widened. "Seaward it is then! Just let me grab its Pokeball and your survival kit!"
She turned and quickly grabbed the Pokeball from where she had set it on a desk, and then darted over to an array of backbacks that were sitting on yet another shelf. After examining them for a moment, she grabbed one that was the same shade of blue as the Seaward's skin and bustled back over to the new trainer.
"Here you are, this is the Seaward's Pokeball," she said, holding out the small red and white orb. "And this pack is your trainer survival kit, it contains everything you need to at least reach the first town, Purity Valley, you can restock there if you need to." she held out the pack as well.
Name: -Your Choice- Gender: -Your Choice- Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip Personality: -Your Choice-
Empty Pokeball x5 Potion x6 Antidote x4 Paralyze Heal x4 Lanorae Region Map Lanorae PokeDex 1000£
"I wish you luck on your journey," said Lillian cheerfully. "And don't let the darkness and Murkrow get you down, it should lift within a few weeks at the most... hopefully." She gave a sheepish grin, her Chatot landing on her shoulder with a loud squawk. You may now proceed to Route One!

The girl nodded, taking the survival kit first, leaving it hanging off one arm, then took the smooth, red-and-white capsule that held her new Pokemon, holding it up to get a better look. "What will I call you..." she murmured, gazing wistfully at the Pokeball. There were so many names that would fit this Pokemon. "Loyal...loves the sea..." Elissa looked up, a small smile on her face. "Thank you for everything, miss Lillian. Thank you..." With that, she turned around, pulling on the blue backpack, gripping the Seaward's Pokeball tightly in her right hand. Doing her best to ignore the looming darkness and flocking Murkrow, she started walking to Route One, humming a song to herself.
