Zan trotted onto the Route as quickly as possible, following Sahara's suggestion, then stopped to wait for her. He glanced down at his new FireCub- Tobias Romulus. A lengthy, elegant name for such a small and innocent Pokemon, but Zan was sure his first and possibly only Pokemon would live up to his legacy. Tobias was... well, just a name, but Romulus was supposedly one of the two founders of a great city Zan had heard of only once. Romulus and his brother were said to have been raised by a she-wolf who found them abandoned. Story of my life. Zan thought grimly, smirking. Except without the loving motherly figure.

Sahara arrived on the route just moments after Zan did, her long, whip-like tail waving behind her as she padded across the dirt path. Her ears twitched, and she glanced upward, flattening the Raichu-like ears against her blonde hair, a rather obvious sign of irritation or distress.
A swarm of Murkrow were cawing loudly above, the skies filled with their flapping wings and yellow beaks. She frowned slightly, noticing the total darkness of the skies above. It was almost as if the entire region was blanketed under some sort of cover, casting everything into darkness. Even the sky had little more color than a black hole.
"I don't like this..." she said simply, though she refused to remove her sunglasses despite the darkness that covered the land. "The sooner we get beyond this route the better... I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Murkrow dove from that swarm to attack..."
It did not take long for what Sahara said to come to be, as one of the Murkrow that straggled towards the back dove with a loud caw, aiming its yellow beak for Zan's Firecub with a furious Peck!

Zan's Firecub was taken completely by surprise at the attack, so could do nothing to defend itself. The Peck hit him in between his shoulders, offbalancing the little Lion enough to cause him to fall flat on his face. Instinctively, Tobias Romulus leapt up to try and ram the pestering bird with his head- a crude Tackle attack.
Zan smiled as he crossed his arms to watch the fight. The little one had quite a bit of fight in him, it seemed.

The Murkrow cawed loudly again, quite pleased with the fact that its attack had hit its target. However, its celebratory cheerfulness was short lived, as it suddenly felt the sharp impact of the Tackle against its side.
The dark bird screeched loudly in pain, flailing its wings as it tried to remain airborne. It finally did right itself in the air, beating its small black wings, but then diving again at the Firecub with yet another Peck!
Sahara absently twitched her tail, her sights focused instead upward at the sky rather than on the battle that was unfolding in front of her. The behavior of the Murkrow intrigued her, they were generally never seen on this route... and in Seaside for that matter.

Before the Murkrow even touched him, Tobi started to fight back with his own Tackle attack. However, he was instantly stopped when Zan parted his lips and stated firmly yet softly, "No." The FirCub looked rather confused, turning to face his trainer for an explanation. Just then, the Murkrow's attack hit Toby at hte base of his tail, causing him to fall again. He leapt up faster this time, growling in annoyance at his trainer, whom Tobi seemed to blame for his new pain. <Patience, Tobias Romulus, little one...> he whispered, closing his eyes. The FireCub, who had evidently forgotten his new trainer spoke his tongue, was taken by surprise, causing him to gawk at the tall youth for a few seconds.
Sensing the opportune moment to strike, Zan's eyes flew open. <Now!> he called, the word slashing the dark air like a knife, startling Toby into movement. The little lion growled, this time at the enemy Pokemon, and launched himself at it, claws outstretched and fangs bared- the most threatening a 'pwecious widdle kitty-cat' could look.

The Murkrow squawked loudly, trying to backwing to get out of the way. It had not been expecting the Firecub to charge right for it with the Murkrow's huge, sharp, deadly, yellow beak pointed right at it. However, this was where the Murkrow's mistake came. It had pulled its beak away from the Firecub, leaving its body wide open for attack without any protection at all. Well, the crow could have made a better move...
The impact came hard, very hard, hard enough that the poor, black bird was sent spiraling backwards with an enraged caw. It flapped its wings wildly, trying to at least slow itself before hitting the ground if not preventing hitting the ground all together. Somehow, by some miraculous strike of luck, it managed the latter, flapping back up into the air. The bird was quite obviously furious now...
Squawking quite loudly, the Murkrow flailed its wings and dove for Tobias with yet another Peck attack. Didn't this bird know any other attacks? Really, one would think it would like some variety in its advances, after all, that was how you caught one off guard.

Knowing he didn't have time enough to dodge the Murkrow's Peck attack, Tobias took it bravely. This time, without needing Zan's orders, it waited for the right moment, then lunged for the crow's underbelly with another Tackle attack.

OoC: No prob^^
BiC: The Murkrow cawed loudly, its small body flung forcefully into the dark sky. That had hurt! Especially seeing the fierce attack had hit it directly in the ribs, an area that was rather vulnerable, especially on birds with their frail bones.
Its red eyes flashed dangerously, pure fury burning in their crimson surfaces as it regained its composure, and dove again. It opened its fierce beak, aiming the sharp point for the fire type as it dove with yet another Peck attack!
Sahara surveyed the Murkrow with eyes narrowed, though that was not obvious from behind her sunglasses. Why was the bird so fierce, so agressive? She had thought the species to be threatening in large numbers but generally rather docile.

<From the side.> Zan stated simply. Though Tobi didn't quite know what to do, he Tackled the bird, using his shoulder this time to keep from damaging his chest more. Tobi was hurt when the birds beak dug into his side, but he hoped brute force would do more damage to his enemy.

OoC: It was supposed to be a tackle attack, but like, from the side. Zan just said it different... Sorry anyways.

OoC: Ah, my mistake then..
BiC: The Murkrow cawed loudly as it felt the sharp impact and it was thrown backwards, its body hitting sharply off the ground. Giving another loud, yet weaker-sounding caw, the black bird attempted to raise itself to its feet once more. No avail. Giving one final cry it collapsed into a heap on the ground and the darkness finally did set in, drowning out all light completely, even that of the fire from Tobias' tail. It was pitch black.
Sahara pricked her ears up immediately as the darkness set in, looking around and straining her eyes in an attempt to see. She would have done no better if she had taken her sunglasses off, so she merely pushed them back up the bridge of her nose.
Congratulations! Tobias gainst two (2) levels for defeating the Murkrow! Placing him on level 7! The Murkrow may now be caught! [/sup]

Tobias gazed quizzically at his tail. He could sense that the fire was there, but it made no light. Zan mentally noted the sudden lack of light as he threw a PokeBall at the now-fainted Murkrow. The darn things were so annoying, but it could come in handy when trying to figure out why dark-types were acting so strange currently.
"So... Usually, I'd say 'Let's go!' or something like that, but... How the heck are we supposed to see where we're going?" Zan questioned, turning in the direction he recalled seeing Sahara last.

The Pokeball twitched once, twice, three times before it made a loud dinging sound to show that the Murkrow had indeed been captured in the orb's contents. Name: -Your Choice- Gender: Female Level: 7 Attacks: Peck, Astonish, Pursuit Personality: Rather aggressive and snappy, especially at night, this isn't a bird you want on your bad side. She is rather prone to attacking out of nowhere, and for no reason. Experience Points: 0 Hold Item: NoneSahara shrugged simply, and glanced around with a twitch of her tail. "Perhaps it would be best to follow our noses..." she said simply, her ears twitching. "Purity Valley is known for its Sakura trees... or, cherry blossoms as you may know them... they have a rather attractive scent..."
She took a cautious step forward into the blackness, trying to get at least some picture of the scenary. [/sup]

Zan picked up his new Murkrow, Dire Misery, and stowed its 'Ball in his orange backpack. He returned his Firecub as well, not wanting him to wander off and get lost in this darkness.
He nodded at Sahara's suggestion, closing his eyes and lifting his nose to the slight breeze. Sahara seemed to know this region better, though, so he waited for her to determine which way to go. To Zan, it seemed the darkness would swallow all smells humans could detect, but by his nose, all the smells coming from all directions were swirling all over the place, making it impossible for him to determine where thye were coming from.
"I'm lost." he finally said, opening his eyes and crossing his arms. He waited for Sahara's voice to come out of the darkness with a command or something- all hope of seeing was pretty much lost.
OoC: Was the Murkrow not supposed to have any attacks or was that a mistake? -is rather confuzzled-
And fankies for the reply. -hug-

OoC: Peck, Astonish, and Pursuit ^^; Yeah, I was in a hurry... Sorry Dx
BiC: Sahara blew a few strands of hair from her eyes before mentioning jokingly, "Funny how you can transform and I can't, but yet my abilities as a Raichu are not daunted by human DNA in my body..." a simple joke, one that she truely didn't mean anything by, but, she felt she had to say it or she wouldn't have been able to concentrate on the task at hand.
Twitching her long, whip-like tail she took a few steps forward. She was already rather blinded as it was, seeing she still wore sunglasses, and therefore didn't bother closing her eyes. Another few steps but then she felt something run blindly into her leg and she looked down quickly, jumping back. "Rattata..." she said simply, recognizing the scent.
Rather furious that its path had been blocked, the purple rat leapt up into the air and charged blindly for Zan's Firecub with teeth bared, a Tackle.
Event! Wild Rattata Attacked![/sup]

Poor Tobi had no chance of dodging, as he could not see much of anything. He was hit by the Rattata and rolled to the side, then leaped back up and charged back in direction from which he had been attacked with a Tackle attack.
Zan simply nodded and continued to sniff, trying to get his bearings whilst Tobias waged battle against the little rat Pokemon. He bumped into a tree and nearly ran into Sahara, but after a few minutes, the Raichu morph had a pretty good lay of the land.
