The high shoots threatened to snare Sparrow's feet as he forced his way through, occasionally casting a nervous glance at the ebony sky; he wasn't used to phenomenon such as this one. It was midmorning, for crying out loud!
Finally discovering the road, Sparrow dropped to his hands and knees in the dirt, exhaling quickly from the effort, before transferring himself into a more comfortable position in order to examine the damage done. Grimacing at the sight of the bandages on his feet, he reached into a pocket, withdrawing a roll of white gauze. He then began the process of unwrapping the old bandaging.
Replacing the thick pad on the bottom of his foot, he wrapped it with the gauze quickly, wanting to get on his way; the darkness was unsettling. _____________________________________________
Once done, he heaved himself off the ground, hoisting the small bag over his shoulder and dusting off some of the dirt clinging to his clothing. The Poke Ball containing his new Iglora dangled from a clip on his belt; he'd named the Grass-type Lacerta, which fittingly meant 'lizard' in Latin. He'd decided against releasing the Iglora just yet.
Where was the element of surprise if he ran across a Wild?

And what a wild this one would be... Something had been following Sparrow since mere seconds after his arrival into the route. But it wasn't the trainer it was after - no - it was something else that had been hanging inside the male's bag all along, heavens knows how it got there in the first place. A Budew, a tiny one at that whom was probably somewhere close to a newborn. The pokemon had sprung out from the bag as the male had searched for bandages, running into the long grasses before occasionally poking its small head out to look at Sparrow.
And finally, just when the little toddler decided the boy might be fun to play with, a gray blur almost snatched the Budew in her jaws.
'Budew!!! Dew dew, budew!'
Terrified, the sapling made a bee-line to Sparrow - who was now designated as his new 'mother' before the shivering toddler of a grass type looked up at the male with watery eyes. The Poochyena growled, gray fur bristling as she eyed the half lost - half won meal, glimmering golden eyes never lifting from her prey.
'Poooch!!! Poochyena!!!'
The Pokemon howled loudly, glaring at the trainer as she assumed a regal pose. Surely this one was highly leveled - and no doubt she would have been a good Alpha - had the canine belonged to one of those packs scattered in Route One.Events!
Wild Budew has been befriended (XD).
Wild Poochyena is attacking!

[[Aw, Sparrow's a mommy. xDDD]]
Having had the odd feeling that he was being followed, Sparrow had decided to ignore the feeling for as long as he could; if it was something unfriendly, he wouldn't want to set it off too early. Maybe it would lose interest and go away.
He wasn't quite that lucky.
Not quite prepared for a double encounter - hell, he wasn't even prepared for one, not this early at least - Sparrow was startled by the speed at which the little green Pokemon shot at him, clearly scared out of its wits, poor thing.
"What's the matter, are you lo- OI!"
The boy yelled out in alarm when the Poochyena nearly chomped the Budew in half, and stepped in front of the tiny Grass-type, Lacerta's Poke Ball in hand.
"Oh wow, a Poochyena. A Dark-type, ne? That'll make for a nice teammate. Alright, let's test you. Lacerta, help me out here!"
The sphere burst open before Sparrow could even let go of it, and the white light resolved itself into the form of the tan-and-green dinosaur; Lacerta eyed the Poochyena defiantly; a small growl escaped his lips, and he raised the spike on his snout high, as a sign of intimidation.
"Erm. . . alright, Lacerta, use Leer!"
The Iglora obliged with much gusto, bristling the few shoots growing from his back, and fixed a magnificent, saurian glare on the tiny wolf with his reddish eyes, hoping to intimidate the Poochyena enough to make it lower its defenses.
"Ii-iglorra!"

'Bu-dew, bu-dew... BU-DEEEEEEWWW!!!!'
As the Iglora appeared the Budew started wailing louder - now having jumped into the trainer's arms - or should we say his new mother? Really, the little critter was lucky a Murkrow hadn't picked him off before - and that the Poochyena had actually missed breaking the small baby Pokemon in half. Speaking of which...
'Pooooooooch!!!'
Feeling her defenses being weakened, and a shiver run down her spine as the Iglora used Leer, the female canine retaliated in her own way. Using Howl the dark type raised her attack power, adrenaline pumping through-out her entire system. Golden eyes were fixed on the dinosaur-like starter, while a sly smirk adorned her features. No doubt the hungry pokemon was analyzing how much better a meal would Lacerta be - compared to that weakling of a Budew.
'Poochyena!!!'
And so, unless the trainer and his newly acquire Iglora could get out of this predicament, it seemed Lacerta was already marked to become the Poochyena's main plate in tonight's dinner.

Not really expecting to be christened the new mother of a baby Budew, Sparrow raised an eyebrow helplessly as he stared at the bawling Grass-type, clearly clueless as to how to make it stop.
Lacerta looked back momentarily, distracted from his battle by this miniature flower bud; Sparrow cast a pleading glance toward his Iglora, but the dinosaur simply shrugged. What did his master want, anyway? He had a battle to worry about; they could tend to the young Roselia pre-evolution later. For now, Sparrow would just have to bear the wailing and concentrate on the battle.
"Okay. . . hm. . ."
Thinking quickly, as the Poochyena added her own voice to the mewling Budew's, Sparrow came to a quick conclusion.
The Budew hanging off one arm, he pointed the other at the troublemaking canine, and commanded "Lacerta, Leer again, and then Scratch it!"
The Iglora threw back his head eagerly, and fixed his red eyes on the Poochyena; flexing his short arms, Lacerta extended the claws on both paws, racing toward the Dark-type with the clear intention of making a tic-tac-toe board on the Poochyena's skin.

"Budew!!! Budew!!! BUDEEEEEEWWWWW!!!"
The thing would just not stop wailing, even after being shifted about in Sparrow's arms. Really, it was becoming annoying - even for the Poochyena whom had planned to make that little twit her meal. He was lucky she didn't chomped him in half when she had the chance.
"Pooch? Poooooooch-Poochyena!"
As the Iglora leered for a second time the canine tilted her, before using a Howl once more. She was almost finished with the move, too, when suddenly the claws of the dinosaur's small frontal arms scrapped her form - sending clumps of gray fur balls in different directions. Whimpering in pain the canine then glued her golden eyes on the Iglora, filled with hate.
"POOOOCHYENA!!!"
And so she dove for Lacerta, dashing towards her opponent in a rather reckless Tackle attack. Oh, he would pay for damaging her fur!!!

Damnit. Why wouldn't the little runt shut up already?
Sparrow was getting annoyed, but he held onto the Budew, despite the growing desire to fling the little bugger like a football and concentrate on the Poochyena; his mother's lessons ranked higher than those of his father.
Lacerta retreated a few steps after landing a successful hit on the little Poochyena, but he knew she was seriously pissed off now. He looked to Sparrow for the next set of commands, to determine a suitable course of action, but even as he did so, the Poochyena's skull collided with his left shoulder, sending the little Iglora tumbling head over heels on the dirt.
Oh, she did just not.
Lacerta clambered to his feet, ignoring the dull, throbbing pain in his arm, instead directing his anger at this little ball of fur. He was infuriated now, not only because he'd been blindsided, but the Poochyena had attacked a member of his species, nonetheless a youngling, and was now threatening his trainer.
Digging his heels into the ground, Lacerta cast a feral glare at the Pokemon opposing him, baring his teeth as his upper lip curled in a Growl. Leaving his master to deal with the troublesome Budew, he charged forward, his head bowed in the manner in which a Rampardos would when attacking; that Poochyena was going to deal with a taste of her own medicine now.
"Iii-glorrah!"

"Poooooooooch!!"
Her next call had quite a few meanings: accerting her dominancy, marking territory, mocking the Iglora and raising her attack power with a Howl. The Poochyena glared back the giant lizard when he fell - and Lacerta was lucky she didn't knew Bite yet, or the Poochyena might have been tempted to go in for the kill at that instance. Herown glare matched that of the Grass Starter.
A simple, 'oh yes I just did', look.
"Poochy!!"
Next she was rammed by the Iglora once more, her attack power slightly weakened by her foe's Growl, before tumbling in the dirt a bit. With difficulty the canine got back up, though it was evident she wouldn't give up. Oh no, she would fight until she won - or until death took her.
"Poooochyenaaa!!"
With that she launched herself again back at the Iglora, in another easily noticeable Tackle attack. And the Budew? The thing continued to wail and cry: hungry and terrified. Maybe you could try swinging it around a bit in your arms to calm him down?
"Bu-bu-budew!!! Bu-bu-budew!!!! Dew, dew, dewwww!!!! BUDEW!!!!!"
How annoying...

Sparrow was getting thoroughly and obviously annoyed with the constant wailing. The dang runt had chosen to make him it's new mommy, and now it wouldn't even shut up. Tucking the Budew under his arm, he rocked back and forth on his heels nervously, watching as his Iglora did battle with the stubborn Poochyena.
"Glooora!"
Lacerta Growled again, answering the challenge wholeheartedly, but at the same time hoping his master would finally tear his eyes from the little sapling and pay attention to him. He was the one getting pushed around out here, not the Budew!
As if answering the Iglora's thoughts, Sparrow bit his lip, clearly thinking up a strategy when the Poochyena came at Lacerta once more.
"I know!" Sparrow exclaimed suddenly, nearly dropping the little Grass-type. "Lacerta, turn around and slam it in the face with your tail when it gets close!"
The Iglora nearly rolled his eyes.
Nice move, oh smart one.
Nonetheless, he obeyed, tensing his entire body in wait as the Poochyena neared; at the last possible millisecond, he swerved around, stiffening his tail and aiming for the most sensitive part of the Poochyena's body. The muzzle.
That oughta sting.

Well, the whole cradling method had seemed to be working - for he Budew's crying had dminished a great ammoung. Still, upon Sparrow's sudden outburst and almost being dropped from his mother's arms, the Budew resumed his wailing - higher than before.
"BU-BU-BUDEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!"
Even the Poochyena was startled by the sudden wailing, and the Pokemon managed to trip herself as she ran in for her last Tackle - resulting in the dark canine eating a mouthful of grass and dirt. The good part? She'd fallen just in time ti avoid the swinging tail - something that wouldn't have happened if she had planned for it to be so.
"Poo- Pooch?"
Tail wagged slightly in mild relief, the canine sighing, before she stood up once more and attempted to his Lacerta with a close-ranged Tackle attack now.
"Poochyena!"

"Oh, jeez! You've got to be kidding me! Can't you quiet down already, you little-" Sparrow exclaimed, stopping himself in time from what would have been an extremely obscene interjection, and shifted his eyes to Lacerta instead, who was busy laughing at the misfortune of the Poochyena, as it plowed nose first into the ground.
Unfortunate for the Iglora, the canine now had a better chance of striking without fail, and she did just so. Lacerta was winded by the sudden collision, but did not come up helpless. Not this time 'round. He extended sharp claws, latching onto the Poochyena as he went rolling, intending to bring the canine with him, and shot another Leer at her, before attempting to use a close-range Tackle on the small puppy Pokemon.
"Rrrr-iglora!"

((Thanks for understanding. :3 I like creativity, but I do want to keep things along the lines as well. XDD))
"Poo... Chye... Na..."
It would seem that between the Leers and the Tackle the canine had been defeated. Upon closer inspection one coould see the Iglora had nailed a Critical Hit to the side of the dark puppy, resulting in her fainting from the lack of defenses. The Budew stopped his crying upon seeing the 'big', bad 'wolf' now 'dead' - cheering happily instead.
"Bu, budew! Budew!"
Turning to look up at Sparrow the sapling smiled, before snuggling in the trainer's arms happily.
Event! Lacerta gains 2 levels for defeating a level five Poochyena. You may now catch the Poochyena if you desire. You may catch the befriended Budew if you desire.

[[No problem. I guess I got a little overexcited. xDD]]
Sighing contentedly when the Budew finally deemed itself fit to stop wailing, and also because Lacerta had finally defeated the stubborn Poochyena, he returned the smile the little Grass-type had given him, and set the Budew on the ground to dig out two Poke Balls from his bag.
"Alright, that was good, Lacerta. Return." he praised his Iglora, and the lizard vanished in a flash of red light, grinning widely.
Once having pocketed his starter, Sparrow lobbed an empty Poke Ball at the Dark-type, before turning to regard the Budew.
"So. . ." he began, "I suppose you'd want to come with us, too?"
Bending to pick out a second empty ball, he offered it to the Grass-type, waiting for the Budew's response.
Yea, or nay?

The Budew smiled happily, gazing at the red and white sphere before butting it slightly. A flash of red light ensued, absorbing the baby Pokemon, before the Poke'Ball settled with a Ping! [/b] sounds. The Budew has been caught.[/sup] Congrats! You caught a male Budew! Name: -- Gender: Male Level: 2 Attacks: Absorb Ability: Poison Point Personality: Sweet and cute when he wants to be, and playful too. This Budew is sure to melt many people's hearts with his cuteness, especially the girls. No doubt he'll be a flirt when he grows up - but for now he's just an innocent sapling. Though when he gets upset and starts crying... You better have earplugs at your reach and a long and thick patience fuse. Experience Points: 0 Hold Item: None
The Poochyena continued to lie there, still. Thus when the Poke'Ball hit the exhausted an unconscious Pokemon it found n resistance towards her capture. So, much like the Budew, the Poke'Ball rocked a few times before settling down with a Ping![/b] sound. The Poochyena had been caught.[/sup] Congrats! You caught a female Poochyena!
Name: -- Gender: Female Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Howl Ability: Quick Feet Personality: No doubt that she could have been an Alpha, had the pup been a bit older and had a longer wild life span. Stubborn as she can be, and with a will of iron, this pokemon will be a hard one to keep in check. You better make sure you have badges to control her levels - or she will most likely disobey her master in the future. Experience Points: 0 Hold Item: None[/center]

Clipping the Budew's Poke Ball to his belt immediately after it had ceased moving, Sparrow then moved over the the Poochyena's, waiting patiently as the sphere rocked back and forth; as it finally halted, Sparrow grinned, and picked up the other ball, attaching it to a clip beside his Iglora's.
"Not a bad haul at all. Barely been on the road for an hour and I already filled half my team." he said inwardly. His smile fell into a frown when he thought of the stubborn Poochyena, and pressed a hand over the Poke Ball holding her, as if it would suddenly burst open and release the puppy.
Getting up on his feet, he shook off the feeling of apprehension, and, with an anxious glance toward the sky, he set off at a loping run, wanting to avoid staying in one spot for too long; it was like waiting underneath a tree in the middle of a field, ogling the sky and expecting to be hit by a bolt of lightning without warning.

"Mreow, meowth!!!"
Well, it wasn't a bolt of lightning... But it sure could have been confused by one. Out of nowhere, from right out of the bushes, a Meowth suddenly leaped at Lacerta, claws outstretched as he aimed for the other in a rather painful looking Scratch attack. Still, this was evidently no ordinary Meowth, the ruffled and matted fur as well as scars from old battles enough proof that this feline had seen his shares of battles in this Prairie.
And now it seemed that he wanted to pick on your Iglora. The Meowth had probably battle one or two starting trainers before you, and whooped their asses good, so with a high ego the feline seemed to be sure he would add you and the Iglora to his score of beaten up victims. But, will you trully be defeated by a cute fur ball? Or will this feline prove to be more than what you and Lacerta can handle?
Event!
Wild male Meowth is attacking, level 07!

Completely unexpectant of the sudden attack, Lacerta was struck and sent sprawling on his side in the dirt; instinctively, the lizard lashed out with his own claws, hoping to strike a warning Scratch into the intrusive Meowth.
"Iiii-glorr!" the Iglora screeched as the Meowth's claws raked his scales, uprooting some of them and scattering them over the ground. Clambering to his feet, the green and tan lizard shook himself, and then began to circle the Meowth, all the while Growling menacingly.
"Rrrrr. . ."

"Mreooow!!!"
The feline hissed, the Iglora's claws raking his fur as the Scratch attack indeed landed. Lashing out his tail in furry the Meowth retaliated with a Growl of his own, before leaping towards the Iglora. Jaws her opened, and teeth glinted, as the Meowth now attemoted to Bite his foe. [/sup]
