Alrighty, I've finally gotten a system down for this. I know when the site first started up it was sort of hit and miss but here we go! Time to finally lay down the line and have a set system!
.:Battling and Catching Wild Pokemon:.
Alright, this is a fairly basic concept. Just like in every other Pokemon game, anime, even other roleplay sites wild Pokemon appear quite often, mainly on routes but occasionally you will find them even as rogues in the cities. Here are the basics.
1.) Wild Pokemon are generally weaker than trained Pokemon, even if they are the same level as the said trained Pokemon. However! If your Pokemon has been worn down by constant battles since you started the route, give it some slack. If in the last battle you end it saying your Pokemon was just about it faint when you captured the wild Pokemon, if you use the same Pokemon in the next battle (unless you used a Potion) don't expect to win easily, you perhaps may even loose. The same goes for the newly caught Pokemon. They are going to be exhausted from the battle you caught them in, so they aren't just going to appear out of their new pokeball fighting ready and rearing to go.
2.) You can throw a pokeball at the wild Pokemon whenever you wish, however, don't expect to catch it if you throw it right when the Pokemon appears (Unless it's a Master Ball, but you can't do that with legends, you still have to battle them). Just keep it in mind that the weaker and more tired the opposing Pokemon is the better chance you have of catching it. Fainted Pokemon are automatically catchable and will not break free of the pokeball.
3.) Status effects also have a slight effect on the catch rate of the wild Pokemon. A Pokemon that's asleep or paralyzed can't struggle much, really they can't even move. They still may be able to break free if they're still bundles of energy, but you have a better chance of catching them if status effects are in play.
.:Leveling the Pokemon Up:.
1.) If your Pokemon is at a higher level than the opposing Pokemon within three levels and your Pokemon wins you gain 1 level. If your Pokemon is higher by six levels you gain 50 experience, nine levels 25 experience, anymore than that, 5 experience points.
2.) If your Pokemon is of equal levels with the opponents and you win you gain 2 levels.
3.) If your Pokemon is lower than the level of the opposing Pokemon than you gain 3 levels if three levels below, 4 levels if six levels below, 5 levels if nine levels below, and so on. Don't expect to win many of these.
4.) You can also share experience points, like say if you're trying to train that pesky Magikarp into a Gyarados. To do this you send out the weaker Pokemon and immediately recall it, sending out the stronger on. The levels and experience are divide by the amount of Pokemon used, equal values given to each Pokemon. The levels and experience are also determined by the Pokemon that DEFEATED the opposing Pokemon, so don't expect high experience gain if you beat a level 12 Pokemon with your level 40 one.
5.) All Pokemon gain a level when they hit 100 experience points, and the experience points you have will be carried over to the next level, so no worries^^
.:Evolution:.
Evolution here happens just like in the games. When a Pokemon reaches a certain evolution level it will try to evolve. Evolution can be prevented if a Pokemon is holding an Everstone, or if the trainer tells the Pokemon not to evolve, but it will try to evolve every level there after until it is permitted to evolve, or reaches level 100 (max level). While holding an Everstone the Pokemon will never try to evolve.
1.) Stone Evolution. Pokemon can also evolve via evolution stones (Thunderstone, Fire Stone, ect.) These Pokemon will evolve immediately after contact with the stone and this evolution cannot be stopped. Afterwards, the stone becomes unusable.
2.) Item Evolution. Some Pokemon also evolve while leveling up holding items (Sneasel into Weavile while holding a Razor Claw). The Pokemon will evolve the next level after being given the item, this evolution can to be stopped if the trainer wants it to be, but it will continue trying to evolve every level after until the item is taken away.
3.) Trade Evolution. Some Pokemon only evolve if they are traded away, sometimes with items sometimes without (Machoke into Machamp without, Seadra into Kingdra if traded with a Dragon Scale). Trading can be done at the Trading Center, and trade tradebacks can be arranged with mods, or other members.
4.) Happiness Evolution. Happiness evolution will be determined by the mod by how you treat your Pokemon and how they react to you. Obviously, a Riolu won't instantly evolve into Lucario right after you catch it. Be creative with posts and make sure you keep your Pokemon happy and they will soon evolve.
5.) Time Evolution. Some Pokemon also do not evolve unless it's a certain time of day (Wurmple into Silcoon during the day, Wurmple into Cascoon at night). This can be determined in two ways. A) The mod will go through day phases, which is what I normally do or B) A coin will be flipped to determine what form it evolves into or if it evolves or not.
6.) Special Area Evolution. Some Pokemon introduced in Diamond and Pearl will not evolve unless trained in specific areas (Eevee into Leafon at Moss Rock). We still support this idea here, the areas will just be changed to fit the region. If unsure, just ask.
That about covers everything. Please, mods, make sure you have a basic idea of these things down^^ If there are any questions, just PM me.
